(Assosa University, May 8, 2026) Assosa University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT), organized an awareness creation workshop on Ethiopia’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, and the Ethiopian Startup Proclamation.
The workshop was opened by Dr. Oumer Sherif, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, who emphasized the importance of aligning university research and teaching with national priorities, nurturing innovators, and contributing to Ethiopia’s digital transformation. He noted that Digital Ethiopia 2025 proved transformation is possible, while Digital Ethiopia 2030 challenges institutions to scale achievements into a fully empowered digital society.
Experts from MinT, including Dr. Abebe Mola, Mr. Tadesse Anbessie, and Dr. Bekuretsion Alemayehu, presented key insights on policy directions, startup support, and digital strategy.
The event brought together Assosa University teachers alongside participants from the BGRS Science and Technology Bureau, Labor and Skills Office, and the Polytechnic Institute.
The workshop was concluded with discussions and reflections, reinforcing the shared commitment to bridge policy with practice to contribute the Ethiopia’s national vision.
