Assosa University and Gemharu Secondary School Collaborate for Community Support

Assosa, Ethiopia (14/02/2025) – In a significant move towards enhancing educational support in the region, Assosa University’s Community Service and Research Directorate recently conducted a joint meeting with Gemharu Secondary School.

 

This collaboration aims to strengthen community ties and provide essential support to the school.

The meeting was led by Dr. Tefera Teshome, the director of the Assosa University Community Service Directorate. It focused on various ways Assosa University plans to assist Gemharu Secondary School, particularly in preparing students for critical national exams. Notably, the university has pledged to support teachers who are instructing students in the 2017/2025 entrance exam cohort. This initiative underscores the university’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future.

In addition, Assosa University has promised direct support to 12th-grade students, helping them prepare for the upcoming national examinations by updating their exam-taking strategies. The university will also provide psychosocial support and improve basic digital skills, as students will take the examination online. This initiative reflects the university’s dedication to community service and its role in uplifting local educational standards. Mr. Tenaw Tesfa, the director of Gemharu Secondary School, admires the university’s initiatives for holistic support in making Gemharu Secondary an Excellence Center.
