Assosa University had the distinct honour of hosting H.E. Dag Filip Hartelius, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, accompanied by distinguished delegates from the Embassy of Sweden and the IGAD Centre for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD).
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Abdulmuhsin Hassen, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, who expressed deep appreciation for their willingness to cooperate. He highlighted the University’s ongoing efforts in advancing international collaboration and reaffirmed Assosa University’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, research, and innovation.
During the discussions, H.E. Dag Filip Hartelius commended Assosa University’s strong community engagement and assured his readiness to collaborate on future initiatives that promote sustainable development in Ethiopia’s border regions.
On the occasion, Dr. Befikadu Zewude presented a research paper entitled “The Current Status of Cross-Border Rangelands, Available Feed Resources, and Management Practices in Kurmuk District, Western Ethiopia.” The presentation underscored the University’s dedication to addressing regional challenges through applied research and knowledge dissemination.
This high-level diplomatic visit marks a significant milestone in Assosa University’s internationalization journey, reinforcing its vision to build strong partnerships with global institutions and contribute meaningfully to Ethiopia’s national development agenda.
