Assosa University Research and Technology Transfer Vice President Dr. Abdulmuhsin Hassen discussed with representatives from the Impact HDSS grant team, a program funded by Vital Strategies.
The discussions centered on Assosa University’s potential role in a new small-scale grant initiative aimed at strengthening Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) in underserved areas.
During the discussion , the grant team conducted a thorough review of Assosa University’s previous performance in managing externally funded projects.
Accordingly, the team praised the university’s consistent delivery on grant objectives, its transparent reporting practices, and its ability to mobilize local expertise. This strong track record led the team to express full confidence in ASU’s ability to successfully implement the upcoming HDSS project.
The collaboration will officially launch once Assosa University submits a comprehensive operational proposal outlining its implementation strategy, staffing plan, and community engagement framework. Both parties affirmed their commitment to moving forward, citing the University demonstrated capacity, institutional readiness, and deep-rooted commitment to public health advancement in the Benishangul-Gumuz region.
