Assosa University Discussed on Strategic Collaboration with delegates from the Canadian Embassy

(Assosa University, November 26, 2025) Assosa University welcomed a delegation from Canadian Embassy, led by Mr. Marc-André Savage and Ms.
Selome Wondemu for a high-level dialogue on strengthening international partnerships and exploring transformative collaboration opportunities.
 
During the event, Dr. Kemal Abdurahim, President of Assosa University, presented an overview of the university’s vision, achievements, and the vast potential of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region (BGRS). He emphasized the institution’s readiness to engage in life-transforming initiatives that connect Assosa University’s focus areas with Canadian expertise and resources.
 
Dr. Yosef Kassa, Director of Research, International Relations and Partnerships, highlighted the university’s prior international engagements and collaborations, stressing the importance of expanding partnerships with Canada. He elaborated on the university’s research strengths and internationalization efforts, underscoring the mutual benefits of such cooperation.
 
Directors and College Deans also contributed by reflecting on specific areas where collaboration could be strengthened, ensuring that the dialogue addressed practical and impactful opportunities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to formalize the partnership. They agreed to identify interested parties and thematic areas for collaboration, promising to remain in close contact to advance the shared vision.
 
This engagement marks a significant step in Assosa University’s mission to expand its global partnerships, enhance research and innovation, and contribute to regional and international development.
