Assosa University has signed as consultancy agreement with the Mineral Industry Development Institute aimed at improving Ethiopia’s dimensional stone productivity for import substitution and export promotion.
The two year consultancy agreement was signed by Dr. Kemal Abdurahim, President of Assosa University, and Dr. Bisrat Kebede, Director General of the Mineral Industry Development Institute.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on developing a 10-year marble governance strategy, Preparation of capacity-building manuals and provide training, and Conducting dimensional stone research.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kemal highlighted Assosa University’s growing role in Ethiopia’s mining sector pointing the ongoing partnerships with ITA in Borax technology and the establishment of a Marble Research and Capacity Building Center at the University. He also expressed willingness with the agreement by emphasizing its importance in ensuring Ethiopia’s mineral resources are managed responsibly and sustainably.
Dr. Bisrat Kebede commended Assosa University for its commitment in collaboration and quality, stressing that the agreement will strengthen Ethiopia’s mineral utilization and promote accountability in resource governance.
On the event, officials and representatives participants from both institutions discussed in detail on how to work collaboratively in implementing the agreement.
The program has got conclusion with a visit to the University’s Marble Research and Capacity Building Center currently under finishing line.
