Assosa University has launched a two-day training program for selected departments aimed at enhancing academic program accreditation.
In alignment with the national goal of promoting quality, accountability, and international competitiveness in higher education, Assosa University is actively pursuing accreditation processes.
The training was inaugurated by Academic Vice President Dr. Melkamu Deressa, who highlighted that the university has successfully prepared nine programs for accreditation since last year and is currently working on an additional seven this year. Dr. Melkamu emphasized that accreditation ensures academic programs meet national standards, enhances graduate employability, and strengthens institutional credibility.
He urged participants to take the training seriously, stressing that accreditation is a national priority.
The training sessions are being facilitated by Dr. Geleta Fekadu, Director of Education Quality Assurance at the university.
The curriculum covers essential topics such as concepts of quality education, accreditation procedures and guidelines, self-evaluation standards, accreditation with standards and sub-standards, as well as concepts and procedures based on student success surveys.
