Assosa University hosted a Capacity Building Training Workshop titled “From Research Opportunity Identification till Project Management.”
The program was officially opened by Dr. Oumer Sheriff, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer. In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Oumer warmly greeted the participants and extended a special welcome to the trainer, Dr. Huub L.M.M. Mudde, Deputy Director at the Expert Centre on Emerging Economies, Masstricht University, Netherlands.
Dr. Oumer welcomed the trainer to Assosa, a city rich in diversity, and highlighted the vast resources of the Benishangul Gumuz Region. He further emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing research capacity and shared updates on the university’s ongoing initiatives and global partnerships.He also mentioned researches and projects the University carrying out callaburatively with international partners.
Following this, Dr. Huub Mudde delivered training sessions that covered the identification of research priorities, project development and management, and research dissemination and sustainability. He stressed that universities play a transformative role in improving society and emphasized the centrality of research to academic advancement. Drawing on his extensive experience, Dr. Huub provided practical guidance on preparing strong research proposals and fostering international cooperation.
The workshop was attended by directors, department heads, deans, and academic staff, ensuring broad institutional engagement. The training sessions built practical competencies in research opportunity identification and proposal development.
This initiative demonstrated Assosa University’s continued commitment to strengthening research capacity, improving research quality, promoting innovation, and enhancing research impact.
