Assosa University Conducts Training on RP-IMS (Research and Project Information Management System)

The Research Publication, Extension, and Ethics (RPEE) Directorate of Assosa University has successfully delivered a training program on the newly deployed Research and Project Information Management System (RP-IMS). The training was designed to familiarize researchers with the system’s functionalities and its transformative role in streamlining research administration.

During the opening session, Dr. Oumer Sheriff, Director of the RPEE Directorate, highlighted that Assosa University has officially adopted RP-IMS in collaboration with the University of Gondar. He emphasized that the introduction of this digital platform marks the end of paper-based proposal submission, preview, and evaluation processes. Researchers can now submit their proposals electronically, track their progress online, and receive timely updates. According to Dr. Oumer, this transition will: Significantly reduce the cost associated with paper usage, minimize bias in proposal evaluation by ensuring transparency and accountability, enhance clarity and efficiency in the research management workflow.

The training was facilitated virtually by Mr. Fedelu Nurhusein from the University of Gondar. He explained that RP-IMS is a flexible and user-friendly system, adaptable to the diverse needs of researchers, and offers multiple advantages in terms of efficiency and accessibility.

Participants of the training, particularly those whose proposals
were evaluated and endorsed during the 2018 budget year, expressed strong appreciation for the system. They noted that RP-IMS is not only cost-effective but also time-efficient, eliminating the delays and burdens associated with manual, paper-based submissions.
