Assosa University organized its 10th Annual National Research Conference under the theme “Applied Research and Innovation for Social Transformation and Sustainable Development.”
At the event, a diverse group of participants, including distinguished guests, keynote speakers, scholars on a study tour at Assosa University from the University of Blue Nile (Sudan), researchers from various universities, heads of regional bureaus, community elders, and religious leaders, participated.
Dr. Kemal Abdurahim, President of Assosa University, opened the conference and highlighted the university’s achievements in research, technology transfer, and community engagement. The president also emphasized the importance of applied research in driving societal transformation.
Dr. Abdelmuhsen Hassen, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, welcomed the participants, expressing his enthusiasm for the collaborative efforts and innovative ideas that the conference would foster.
Prof. Mokenen Ayana from ASTU delivered a keynote speech on “The Role of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus Research Approach for Integrated and Sustainable Resource Management and Societal Transformation.” Meanwhile, Prof. Kitessa Hundera from Jimma University and currently the Deputy Chairperson of the Assosa University Board spoke on “From Knowledge to Action: Leveraging Applied Research and Innovation for Ethiopia’s Sustainable Future.”
During the conference, approximately 46 research papers will be presented in various parallel sessions, covering a wide range of topics related to sustainable development and societal transformation.
