A seminar on the traditional practice of medicine in the Shinasha community was held. Dr. Abebe Ano presented a paper on the practices and challenges facing traditional medicine.
One of the critical issues discussed was the difficulty in transferring traditional knowledge to the younger generation. Dr. Abebe noted that many youths hold negative perceptions about traditional medicine, viewing it as outdated compared to modern medical practices.
This generational gap poses a significant threat to the preservation and continuation of traditional medical knowledge.
Efforts to educate the youth and integrate traditional practices with contemporary healthcare were suggested as potential solutions to ensure the survival of this important cultural heritage. The Seminar was organized by the Indigenous Knowledge Officer of the university.
