Assosa University’s Laboratories and Workshops
The aim of establishing laboratories in the university is to enable the students to do scientific experiments, research, or to teach them what have been learned in theories through practice. Accordingly, ASU constructed many laboratories particularly in science and engineering colleges to further teaching learning in the areas mentioned above. Among these, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Information Communication Technology, Electrical engineering and Mechanical engineering work shops are some of the functional laboratories which were equipped with the necessary materials in the University.
Before the establishment of these laboratories, the students were travelling long distances to other Universities across the country for experimental works, to do researches or to learn theories through practice. Here, the University was subjected to expend money, time and resources for the success of the program since then. On the other hand, the activities of equipping these laboratories enabled the University to decrease unnecessary wastage of resources for the implementation of the program in general.
Regarding to the computer laboratory, the University has created favorable conditions to give opportunities for the students to enhance their understanding of how to use a computer and soft ware programs which are appropriate to the computer courses. At present, the availability of the functional computer-student ratio in the University is ‘one computer-for-seven students’.
