The 4th Annual National Conference held at Assosa University
The conference was held from June 1-2/2018 at Assosa town with the theme of “Research for Immediate Response to community Problems”.
Onthis conference key-not speaker, researchers, and national and regional stockholders participated. The well coming speech of the conference and the opening remarks addressed by the University president Dr.AmsaluBedemo and Mr. TofiqAbdulqeyum,Assosa townmayor , ASU Boardmember respectively.

Relating to the theme of the conference two key-note speakers Professor Delenasaw Yewhalaw Gebre ,academic staff of Jimma University and Dr.WondaferahuMulugeta Associate Professor of Economics and Senior project Manager,Jimma University were made speech on the issue of community based or engaged researches.
At this conference, internal (ASU) 18 papers and external (from different universities) 39 totally 57 papers presented. The participants discussed how they disseminate or change to community service or projects those scholars’ research findings. Finally, by the university Board chairman Mr. Rashid Mohammed’s closing speech the conference completed.
ASSOSA UNIVERSITY HOSTS THE 8th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON QUALITY EDUCATION
The conference was held from June 4-5 / 2018 at Assosa town administration under the theme of “Quality Education for Sustainable Development and Transform the Life of the Society in Ethiopia”.
While addressing a welcome speech, Dr. Amsalu Bedemo president of Assosa University, thanked all the invited guests: presidents and vice presidents from different Universities in Ethiopia and abroad, scholars, researchers and education stakeholders to join Assosa University for the issue of quality education. He also pointed as that the theme of the conference was relevant and timely that needs consideration to solve the problem of quality education. According to Dr. Amsalu, the quality issue of education in Ethiopia is something similar to that of ‘vicious circle of poverty’ i.e unless we break that circle somewhere at specific point in time, the problem will continue and the same is true for the problem of quality education.

Dr. Amsalu also informed the conference participants as 26 research papers were submitted with three key notes speech in the area of education quality issues and hoped that the findings of the papers and the presentation would create a platform for sharing research experience to contribute for our common concern of education quality in Ethiopia and in our institutions.
Following the welcome speech, Mr. Reshid Mohammed, Director General of Ethiopian Road Fund Agency and Chairperson of ASU Advisory Board, delivered an opening speech to the participants officially. In his speech, Mr. Reshid appreciated Ministry of education for giving the chance of hosting this international conference at Assosa University. Mr. Reshid mentioned the importance of the conference on quality education, as it provides an opportunity for local and international researchers as well as policy makers to share their thoughts and insights for the betterment of quality education.
According to Mr. Reshid, the aspiration of Ethiopia to middle income by the year 2025, is partly contingent on the realization of quality education which is the base for all aspects of development in general and technological advancement in particular. He added that the quality education plays a pivotal role in enabling the learners to acquire pertinent scientific knowledge, independent thinking skills and professional values which prepare them to become a competent professional, contribute the country to become competitive internationally and responsive to the country’s developmental needs in the context of globalization.
He declare the opening of the conference in hopping as the participants would devote their time in all sessions of the program and discuss in detail to challenges of quality education in Ethiopia.

Three key notes speeches on the title of “Teachers problems and the practice of professionalism: Implication for Quality Education” by Prof. Yalewu Endaweke from Woldia University, “Conception and Misconception of Quality Education” by Prof. Alemayehu Bishawand “Key Indicators of Quality Education Vs the Opportunities” by Dr. Matabe Tafere (Assis. Prof.) both from Bahir Dar University, were presented focusing on the theme of the conference.

Hot discussions were also made on each of the key notes speech in detail. Here issues related to forgery documents, plagiarism, the issues of politics in education and similar problems related to teachers, students and the stakeholders were raised from participants.

Following the discussions of key note speeches, the conference was held in two parallel sessions where the research papers focusing to quality education were presented.Here, after each of the presentation of the papers, hot discussions were made, questions regarding to the papers were raised and came up with agreements.
